Discuss Questions:

1)Paddington had a tremendous influence on those around him without realizing it. This is a great introduction to talk to kids – how do they influence those around them?

2) What effect did Paddington’s going to jail have on his family and friends?

3) Is aunt Lucy right? “if we’re kind and polite the world will be right.”?

4) Have you ever had anyone fight for you like Ms. Brown fought for Paddington?

5) Not everyone is kind and not everyone responds to your kindness in a positive manner. Even though he understood this, Paddington remained kind. Even to people who were awful to him. How can we show kindness, even to people who do not deserve it and will not appreciate it?

Reviews

3 Thoughts from the Hobbit:

1)What a delightful movie. It is set in London. It has trains – not just trains, but steam trains!

2)Paddington is a refreshing jolt in our consumeristic, individualistic society. I believe that Paddington shows us the type of community that should exist in the church. Paddington is a hero, not because he Has what we would normally call a superpower – his superpower is love.

3)The acting is fantastic. The characters are SO well drawn. And you should cry tears of happiness at the end. And did I mention that it has steam trains?

3 Thoughts from the Elf:

1) Watch for the ripple effects of Paddington’s kindness and how those people respond when that is suddenly taken away. It’s inspiring to think about how our everyday coming and goings have an impact on those around us.

2) Paddington 2 is one for the whole family!! Not as intense as Paddington 1, however, I will give a trigger warning for foster/adoptive parents- Paddington is able to reunite with the aunt that adopted him originally and sent him to London to find another family in the end. And although it is all truly positive, it might upset little ones who can find some similarity in the storyline.

3)I love the idea that kindness and friendship can get you places, even in prison. Also love that the movie doesn’t over glorify prison. It is the perfect family story.

3 Thoughts from the Ranger:

1)This was one of the first movies I can remember that was just as good, if not better than the first. Spoiler alert: I cried! The very essence of Paddington is a timeless classic. The movie had a great balance of comedy, emotion and adventure! Paddington 2 pulls you into its world, builds a connection with the characters and leaves you with a lot of joy.

2)I love Paddington! He’s so cute and innocent. He always tried to do what’s right and make those around him happy! I feel inspired by him to be more kind and to put others before myself.

3)The VFX were absolutely phenomenal, so much so that I hardly thought it strange to see a bear cub running about London. There was no lack of attention to detail when it came to cinematography. Almost every shot could have been a movie poster. Some of the shots were absolutely genius. One that stands out to me was when Paddington and his aunt Lucy were in the pop up book and everything was two dimensional except them.

3 Thoughts from the Princess:

1)In this world of anger, sadness and judgement, it is so important to remind people to look for the best in others, rather than the bad! I think it is so beautiful!

2)Believing in your family and loving others is so important! This movie has beautiful themes of family, kindness, and the idea that we can bring out the best in those around us with kindness.

3)Paddington is a classic children’s story beautifully portrayed, with amazing CGI, and wonderfully funny puns! Overall I think this is a beautiful children’s movie that the whole family can easily enjoy.
