Quick Summary:
Picking up after the heartbreaking losses in Avengers Endgame and the blip- Peter is wondering where exactly he fits in. Feeling obligated to be a hero but also to living a normal life with his friends. In this movie we follow him to Europe on a school trip that isn’t what it seems. Will Peter decide to follow the hero’s path, or diverge on his own teenage path?

2) Spiderman tells Mysterio that he just wants to be normal and not have to save the world. Do you ever want to give up on responsibility sometimes?

Thoughts from the Elf and the Ent:
-We thought that all of the acting was really well done! I really like the direction they decided to go with MJ. Mysterio’s character was really well played and very dynamic. It’s always great when the secondary characters have such development alongside the leading character Especially the chaperones for the trip. As a teacher, I lovvved the bumbling teachers on the trip. Constantly trying to wrangle everybody and something always going awry and doing the best you can regardless.
-The parallels between Far From Home and the first Iron Man were absolutely wonderful. Iron Man 1 starts off as a lost character who has a large burden upon his shoulders (His father’s company). The development made with his character in that movie is so well in line with the struggles that Peter Parker has to face after the burden of being Iron Man’s protégé is thrust upon him. I especially love the parallels of the endings of the movie as Tony Stark announces his identity as Iron Man while Spider-man’s is forced out into the open. The character development and the journey of Iron Man and Spider-man were such a good touch in this film.
-The idolization of Tony Stark place such a big role in this film. With the recent loss of Tony Stark and Iron Man, the entire world is looking to who will be the new super hero to lead the world. Throughout the entire film, this pressure is building up and compounding upon Peter. The climax of this story is absolutely perfect as Happy confronts Peter when Peter states “I will never be Iron Man”. Happy agrees and states that even Tony Stark struggled living up to his own name and he went through the same exact struggles which Peter was currently wrestling. The culmination of this conversation was also perfect, which was basically “All this crap happened, what are you going to do about it now?”
-The universe is absolutely open for Phase 4 of the Marvel universe to explore. With the aftermath of Endgame as well as the ending of this movie, the future of the MCU is very exciting.
Thoughts from the Princess and Ranger:
-Spider-man: Far From Home is amazing. The CGI is phenomenal. It is beautifully and creatively done. Making you question reality is not easy to do and yet Marvel does it effortlessly.
-The story is captivating, and the character development is wonderful. I got to know spiderman, how he is feeling, and all about the people in his life. That isn’t always the case in superhero movies! Usually during super hero movies I feel the confidence and empowerment that the heroes feel, however marvel did an amazing job making me feel the helplessness and insecurity that Spiderman feels.
-Although some might say parts of the plot are predictable, such as who the villain is, most of the plot is definitely not predictable. There are so many funny moments that made me cry laughing as well as heart breaking elements that made me straight up cry.
-This movie is a roller coaster of emotions that is incredibly enjoyable and something I could easily watch over and over again. I loved this movie and highly recommend seeing it in theaters. It is an amazing installment in the MCU and a must watch!
