Timmy Failure Review

Timmy Failure is a fun, family friendly movie that your little ones may enjoy. The acting is well done (Especially from Wallace Shawn). The downsides of the film come with the pacing. Although it will be fine for adults, the younger audience my find it slow and boring at parts. Overall, we think Timmy Failure is a fun Disney+ movie that your family will have fun watching. Based off a book series. It’s confusing to figure out how you should act and who you should be, especially in high school. Star Girl reminds us all to not worry about acting like we think we should. And instead focus on our passions and being kind. An important message to everyone!

Star Girl Discussion Questions:

3) What are you passionate about? Do you feel like you can share that?
4) What was the biggest takeaway from Star Girl’s speech?

Star Girl Review

This is a really sweet, fun movie. My only complaint is that as Grace VanderWaal’s debut movie, I was hoping for a better soundtrack and several new songs. I was not the biggest fan of the way the movie wrapped up either. However the movie was very well done and I would absolutely watch it again.

Know Before you Watch

Rating: PG
Age Suggestion: 6+
Length: 1 hr. 44 mins.
Themes: Belonging, family, and animal adoption
Warnings: There are some intense scenes with some of the stray dogs. The plot line is very similar to the original movie, so you know what to expect if you’ve seen that film.

Quick summary of the live action Lady and the Tramp:

Lady and the Tramp is a remake of the 1955 Disney classic of the same name. The story shows Lady, a pampered indoor dog who finds herself living on the streets with a mischievous dog named Tramp. Lady wants to find her way back home, but doesn’t know where it is nor if she will be wanted upon her return.

  4. Have you ever given someone a second chance like Tramp was given?
  5. Have you ever had a difficult time with change like Lady did.

Lady and the Tramp Review

This was a great Disney remake that is generally safe for the whole family. The animation is absolutely wonderful and the script and acting are pretty spot on. A good movie night watch for the Disney+ crew! *Fun fact! All of the dogs that were used in the movie were rescue dogs! Lots of them were adopted by crew members* Check out our full review here!

Quick summary of Noelle:

Noelle, the daughter of Santa, has one mission in life: Make sure that her brother is ready to take on the role of Santa. Everything seems to be going according to plan until her brother decides to take a vacation right before Christmas.

Noelle Discussion Questions

  1. What is your dream job? What is so appealing about that job?
  2. Who of your friends or family would be the best Santa? What qualities do they have that would make them so good at being Santa?
  3. Many people looked down on Noelle because she was a female. Have you ever seen someone be mistreated due to their gender or race? What would you do in this situation in the future?

Noelle Review

Noelle is the first of the Disney+ original movies that involves Christmas. Overall, this movie has a similar feeling to the beloved Elf film. (But it’s more family friendly!) Anna Kendrick was a perfect match for this film as she brings a genuinely kind spirit into the film. Bonus: this movie keeps the idea of Santa intact. So if that is important to your family, this is a safe viewing. This film has a few slower points, but is ultimately a cute, fun Christmas movie.

Length: 1 hr. 53 mins.

Warnings: Some scenes of dogs in pain, powerful emotional scenes

Quick summary of Togo:

Everyone knows the story of Balto, but there is a hidden hero behind this story. Willem Defoe plays Leonhard Seppala who trains dog-sled teams that cross long distances in the snow. A serum must be delivered across the land in order to save children.

Togo Discussion Questions

  1. Have you ever had a dog like Togo? How did you train/temper them?
  2. Throughout the first half of the movie, Sepp constantly berates Togo for misbehaving. This leads to Sepp finding what Togo’s best use was. What is one of your hidden talents that most people may not know about?
  3. What is the longest trip you’ve ever made? Could you imagine making that same trip by dog sled?
  4. Balto ends up getting all the credit for what Togo had done. Has someone ever gotten credit for something you did? How did that make you feel?

Togo Review

Togo is an absolutely beautiful movie of the untold story of Togo. There are many similarities between Balto and Togo, but this movie feels a bit more realistic and heavy. Willem Defoe was the perfect choice to play Sepp; he brings credibility to the story as well as the whole movie. At the end of the movie we see a picture of the real life Leonhard Seppala and there is actually a striking similarity to Willem Defoe. We would highly recommend this film to anyone who can handle the slower, emotional scenes.
