Paw Patrol Movie Parent Review
–Why Watch Paw Patrol: The Movie-
If your little one is a fan of the Paw Patrol series, or you think they will be, this is a super fun watch. The world also just feels so heavy right now, it was great to take an hour off and just watch this and laugh with my littles. Is it made for parents? Absolutely not. But it was cute, not miserable to watch, and a good addition to the series.
The lesson in the movie is also great for kids and adults! We can’t be brave and perfect every single day, and our family and friends should always be there for us anyways. And we should be there for them. It’s ok to need to try again. A good reminder.

What Age is Paw Patrol the Movie Made For?–
**CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS**
What age is the new Paw Patrol Movie made for?! We took a 3 1/2 year old who really enjoyed it and the 6 year old was not scared at all either. I would say if they can sit for more than an hour, you should be fine with 2 1/2+ but check out our full parent review here for more specific info.
The new Paw Patrol movie is not much more intense than a typical episode. Of course, there are some dramatic moments, otherwise- what would the pups be rescuing?! But each crisis is easily solved in under three minutes with the exception of the big storm, which takes more like ten minutes.
If accidents or storms might be triggering to your child, you should take that into consideration before you go, again it isn’t much more than a typical episode.
There is very little language in the movie. Phrases like ‘dumbest ever’ are used, but not anything I would consider worse than that.
A note to foster/adoptive/guardian parents– there was a scene in the movie where they talk about Chase having a tough childhood and being rescued and adopted. My littlest one did pick up on this scene and asked a couple of questions about it. And while I wish animal rescue didn’t use the same language as child adoption language, the scene did not bring up any trauma for us specifically- but it’s something to be aware of.
-Plot/Story of Paw Patrol Movie-
**SPOILERS INCLUDED IN THIS SECTION**
Paw Patrol is not written for adults. It is solidly a kid’s cartoon without many nods to the parents watching along. The new Paw Patrol movie is the same.
The mayor has moved onto a new town. He’s trying to get rid of dogs and make everyone love him. A new pup named Liberty calls the pups into help! But Chase isn’t sure he can be the hero everyone thinks he is.
-Characters in Paw Patrol: The Movie-
They actually do bring in a lot of characters from the TV Show, but only the 6 main pups (plus a new one). There are also quite a few little celebrity camos. And hey, if you’ve got a a niece/nephew or young little one in your life this is definitely an amazing way to earn some brownie points. “That’s right, I was in the movie with the PAW PATROL!” Here are some of the character highlights:
–Ryder: Will Brisbin –Chase: Iain Armitage –Marshall: Kingsley Marshall
–Zuma: Shayle Simons –Sky: Lilly Bartlam –Rubble: Keegan Hedley
–Rocky: Callum Shoniker –Liberty: Marcai Martin –Gus: Tyler Perry
–Mayor Humdinger: Ron Purdo –Marty Mucracker: Jimmy Kimmel –Ruben: Dax Shepard
–Butch: Randall Park –Kendra Wilson: Yara Shahidi –Delores: Kim Kardashian
(Yara Shahidi and Marcai Martin grew up together on Black-ish and it’s cool to me that they got to do this together)
And if you’re kids are like mine, the song “Good Mood” sung by Adam Levine is going to be playing on repeat!

Haven’t seen the movie yet, but seems promising. Rocky the blue heeler/cattle dog seems underutilized to me, but that may be because I have one at home and want to see the breed represented more in fiction.
