Quick Enola Holmes Summary

After the occurrences of the first movie, Enola has opened up her own detective agency. Unfortunately, through sexism, ageism, and constantly being connected with her older brother, she is close to having to close up. Just at the last minute, a little girl comes in and asks Enola to search for a missing girl. This leads to a deep mystery with some unexpected mix-ups.

Why Watch Enola Holmes 2-

Enola is back and honestly if you enjoyed the first movie, you should definitely check this one out. The mystery in which Enola is thrown is emotionally gripping while also leading to many twists and turns. For a case that seemed so simple in theory, a lot of unforeseen complexities and villains make it a bit more complicated. Even more than the first movie, this film does an amazing job at fleshing out the Holmes world by bringing in some old names and introducing some new ones.

Also, with the subplot of Sarah Chapman, we get a little taste of the real life story of the Matchgirls and their effect on the child labor laws of that time. It isn’t obvious that this is a character based in reality, but does add a certain gravitas when they reveal the true history. -Is Enola Holmes 2 Appropriate?-

Enola Holmes 2 is aimed at a similar audience as the first one, but some scenes are a bit heavier. There is an important subplot regarding child labor laws and we see many children working in factories and not being treated well. On top of all this, Enola (and some of the other characters) are consistently finding themselves in trouble, sometimes resulting with fighting or shooting.

In one of the more intense scenes of the movie, Enola finds a girl who has been stabbed and is bleeding out on a bed. Enola runs to help her, but she dies in her arms. This moment leads relatively quickly to a chase scene, but could still be very difficult or triggering for some children.
