Quick Indiana Jones 5 Summary
Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is back for another adventure! This time he is accompanied by Helena Shaw, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, as they travel all across the globe to save the Dial of Destiny, otherwise known as the Archimedes Dial. As always, Indy gets himself into sticky situations, creating a variety of challenges for himself and Helena to overcome, all while being chased by Nazis. It’s a solid Indiana Jones movie, and one you should check out if you enjoyed the previous movies!
Indiana Jones 5 Parent Review
-Is Indiana Jones 5 Appropriate for Younger Kids?-
This movie is a lot more violent than previous Indiana Jones movies, primarily because of how many characters die in chases and fights. The fights themselves are not necessarily more bloody or gory, but many of them end in a gunshot or flying off a high speed vehicle. Other than the use of death, it is standard Indiana Jones fare, with creepy crawlies, deep sea diving, fist fights, and some mild swearing (mainly inappropriate British slang).

-Characters & Acting-
It is so fun to see the character of Indiana Jones again! Harrison Ford is fantastic as usual, and I really appreciated seeing an older Indy, with all the life experience that brings. I also loved Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena, Indy’s goddaughter. I’m a huge fan of her work as a writer and actress, and I felt like she delivered! It was also fun to see some cameos from Antonio Banderas and John Rhys-Davies (plus some others that I won’t spoil). Another character that I found a ton of fun is Teddy, played by Ethann Isidore. He was a great addition to the cast, but sadly seems to be getting overlooked by other reviews.
-Script & Story-
The script is probably one of the weaker parts of the movie. It’s just very long, almost 30 minutes longer than the other longest Indiana Jones movie, and it feels long. There are some scenes that could’ve been cut for time or at least sped up some to help viewers stay more engaged. The story itself is pretty good and follows the traditional Indiana Jones structure trying to stay ahead of an enemy while both chasing after a historical artifact McGuffin. I think it uses the characters well, and creates a new story that calls back to previous installments without getting caught up in the older movies.
-Film Quality-
Everything that went into making the movie feel like it was set in 1969 was amazing. From costumes, hair, makeup, to set design, it all helped it feel very immersive. There were moments where the CGI was not as great, especially during the train sequence, but it was overall good. The de-aging was well done for the opening, though Indy still sounded like he was older than he looked at times.
