Elly Conway is a famous author with a bestselling spy book series. Her characters are so alive to her that they are actually a little bothersome. But what’s more than a little bothersome is that some real life bad guys think her new novel holds some secrets that they need the answers to. They think she knows more than she’s letting on but Elly is an anxious and terrified of most things- especially spies and bad guys.
Why watch Argylle?
Argylle is a fun and pretty action movie. With mysterious twists and beautiful popping colors, it’s an entertaining watch! The violence is light to medium compared to most modern action movies. For more on that check out our ‘is Argylle safe for teens to watch‘ section.

Argylle Parent Review
Visually, this movie is stunning. When I hear the word argyle I think of ugly sweaters, but the colors and patterns they use in the movie are amazing!
Remember that this is also a comedy movie, so many of the fight scenes are not serious or believable at all. If you’re only interested in serious or intense action movies, this is not the movie for you.
There were a couple of plot points that were really confusing. But I also didn’t see the twist coming or solve the mystery early, so that was fun. Overall, the storyline was engaging and fun. I thought that the movie would be a repeat of “The Lost City” (Which was a great movie- but not one I would want to watch with teens or grandma) but it was not.
While there was a lot of violence and murder, it is a spy movie, it was not overly bloody or gory. I would be willing to watch this one with a teen or grandma. It’s a family friendly watch for teens +.
Is the Movie Safe for Teens to Watch?: Argylle Parent Review
Overall, we would say yes. There is a romance plot line but it’s not overly sexualized. There are no spicy scenes. The violence is light to medium for an action movie. A lotttttt of people get shot- at least 100. But you only see a very small amount of blood once or twice. There are plenty of fight scenes, but they aren’t painfully slow, gory, or bloody.
Not all teens will be able to handle it, but I think it would be a fun one to watch together. And see who saw the most twists coming.
There is a lot of violence, but it’s not overly bloody. There’s no sex scenes. The language used it used in the context of the story and there is not a lot of it. Overall- a safe watch.

There is a heavy storyline in Argyle about fake parents brainwashing you. Definitely something to discuss afterward.
