The Rings of Power season 2 episode 3 was intense! Check out our reviews and recaps of episode one and two. Or for a recap of season 1, check out this post or video.
We finally get to see more of what happens in Numenor, with the Dwarves, the Southlanders, and the other rings. But we do not see anything about the Harfoots, Eastlanders, or the group traveling with the Stranger.
**SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT**
What happens with the Southlanders in The Rings of Power season 2 episode 3 recap?
We find out that Isildur is still alive. He meets another stranded Southlander and they travel together to the Numenorian port where they are staying. AND AHHH! Bronwyn is dead and not coming back. All the feels. I loved her character and am so sad to see her go. I hope Arondir and Theo make it work and stick together even though Theo really pushed him away in grief. At the end of the episode, Theo gets taken and we do not know what happens to him.
What happens in Numenor during the Rings of Power season 2 episode 3 recap?
The queen mourns her father. Her subjects start to grumble about whether or not riding off to war and death is what they should be focused on, especially if it’s to help Elves. She also discovers that the palantiri is missing (The future seeing crystal ball). Earien has fallen in with the ‘Make Numenor Great Again and Forget the Elves and Queen’ crowd. Valandil steps up, in a fantastic moment, to try to defend the queen.
The queen is betrayed at her coronation by her conniving cousin and Earien. This is a cliffhanger. We don’t know what happens to her. Bronwyn’s gone and it looks like the Queen’s being overthrown?!?!?! WHY?!?!? Absolutely crushing!
What happens in Mordor during Season 2 episode 3 of the Rings of Power?
Now that they have the land, the Orcs led by Adar are building out their kingdom there. With many hesitant to continue on. Not wanting to go to war or to face Sauron. They also bring in the hill trolls.
What happens to the Dwarves during the Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 3 recap?
Prince Durin goes to meet Celebrimbor and Annatar (Sauron) about their invitation to make rings for the Dwarf lords in exchange for mithril. Durin is unsure and hesitant, but Princess Disa reminds him that if there’s even a string of hope of fixing the mountain, they need to pull on it. My favorite moment was when he told her that he was suspicious because Sauron said that Elrond had spoken so highly of, and Elrond would never compliment him like that.
King Durin is pressured into finding a solution for his people, who are worried. But Prince Durin reminds him that he once said that helping the Elves and messing with higher powers might have dire consequences. But they end up accepting the offer.
And this is significant because Sauron himself throws the mithril into the forge for the new rings.
