Things to Know About Inside Out 2
-You do not need to have seen the first movie to understand the second. There is a review of all the emotions and Riley at the beginning of the movie.
-The second movie is very family friendly and an engaging watch for all ages. It is rated PG. For more on that and a full parent review, check out this article.
-It’s been almost ten years since the first movie came out, and some of the voices have changed. Two of us saw it, one noticed it- one didn’t. And neither of us felt it took away from the movie.
-The best place to take a bathroom break in Inside Out 2 is right after Riley goes to sleep at hockey camp.
-There is ethnic, gender, and body size diversity represented in the movie. There is not neurodiversity represented as far as I could tell.
-There are no new positive emotions added. Which seemed to be an odd choice to me, since one of the main themes of the movie is that puberty isn’t all bad. But I know they considered a LOT of different emotions and storylines.
-It was a fantastic movie that I believe everyone can get a little something from.
Favorite Moments from Inside Out 2
In no particular order, here are our favorite moments/ things we noticed from Inside Out 2.
-When the main emotions get stuffed in a jar, they’re suppressed emotions.
-Bluefy is a mix of Blue’s Clues, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Dora, and Bluey
– The literal chasm caused by sarcasm was hilariously relatable.
– In one of the more relatable moments of the movie for adults, as soon as Riley lays down to go to sleep. Anxiety decides to chug multiple energy drinks at that moment.
– As our kids get older, family island becomes so much smaller than friend island. And while we want them to have good friends, we also want them to BE a good friend.
-The brainstorm was fantastic, with lightbulbs pouring in from the sky.
-How well done the panic attack scene was! And it’s a reminder that even when you do start to come out of the panic fog, it takes a little bit to be grounded again. Even after Anxiety was pulled from the console, it took a minute for her to regulate.
-The memory ball from the last championship that Joy put into long-term, core, memories was mixed blue and yellow.
-This was more sad, but I noticed this time that Anger is in charge in both Mom and Dad’s minds.
-Our emotions don’t have to define us.
-She told her future teammates that her state of origin was Minnesota instead of Michigan.
-Each new emotions introduction was really, really well done!
-I loved the ending, but the part that made me cry at the end was when the credits said…”We dedicate this movie to our kids. We love you just the way you are.” So sweet and wonderful. Our kids will gather anxiety and anger from the world and others- I hope I’m able to instill love, joy, and other solid core beliefs in them to help them balance it.
