Glisten and the Merry Mission Review
Glitter and the Merry Mission is a fun Christmas watch for the littles in your life. The plot is pretty straight forward, while culminating with an gripping end! The characters are fun and mesh well together to tell the story. This is a Build a Bear production and this fact because pretty blatant about halfway through, but the movie is still a fun kids movie made for the young viewers in your life!
There are quite a few little issues due to the production value being lower than many other modern movies, but there is something unique and quite beautiful about the art style. The sound editing was very off for me, but again the kids we went with didn’t have any noticeable problems with it. Overall, if you want a simple family friendly Christmas movie, this is a decent one to add to your watch list.

Is Glisten and the Merry Mission Appropriate?
Glisten and the Merry Mission is a Christmas movie that was made for kids of any age. That being said, there are a few things that may be scary for some kids. There are a few animals (a bear and some wolves) that do some intimidating but never get to the point of actual fighting.
The main character’s father is implied to be dead, but this is never directly addressed except one scene in which the mom talks about him in the third person. During the climax of the movie, two characters fall off a cliff, seemingly to their death. They both are saved in two different ways. There are two wolves in these same scenes that actually do fall off the cliff, but due to their villainous actions, this is shown as positive.

Life Lessons from Glisten and the Merry Mission
-Lesson #1: People can change
One of the main subplots followed Grizz, a large bear with a notorious reputation. He had been known only as an angry bear who would roar and knock down Christmas trees that were in the way of his view. When Marzipan runs into him while following the glowing light, she learns that he is a bear who doesn’t want to be mean, he just wants to belong. This leads to Grizz changing his ways and showing that people can change.
–Lesson #2: Modernizing Isn’t Always a Negative Thing
Cinnameg is hired for a new position, but her ideas are immediately cut off and considered too modern and unnecessary. When an emergency occurs, Cinnameg’s ideas are just what was needed to make sure every kid got a present for Christmas.
–Lesson #3: There is Power in Belief
Despite being the title character, Glisten doesn’t make an appearance until the very end of the movie. But the idea that people must believe in her for her to appear is shown throughout the entire film. It took the strong belief of Marzipan and others for Glisten to appear and help get the presents to all the girls and boys around the world.
