Flicks to Look Forward to! Movies Coming out in 2020…

Believe it or not, 2020 is here at last.  2019 was quite a great year in the grand world of the silver screen. Likewise, there are a lot of movies coming out in 2020.  So, we wanted to make a quick list of all the major kids/youth movies (aimed at 18 and under) to look out for. Overall, it looks like a pretty exciting year.

Before we jump into movies coming out in 2020, let’s take a trip down memory lane and see what our favorite movies were (Along with the reviews)!

*Brief Description: Robert Downey Jr. is back (As your heart swells) as a doctor who learns he has a unique ability, he can talk to animals.

*Brief Description: What happens when the world was a modern fantasy land.  Two teenage elves must go through adventure in order to find a message from their late father.

*Brief Description: A remake of the Disney classic, Mulan must fight in an army that is not accepting of female soldiers.

Peter Rabbit 2 (Watch the trailer here)

*Brief Description: Peter can’t break his mischievous streak from the first film.  This gets him into trouble in this sequel to the 2018 hit.

Trolls World Tour (Watch the trailer here)

*Brief Description: The worlds of music face off in Troll form when the Rock n Roll trolls try to take over music.  Can Poppy ward of these new predators while also maintaining a balance of musical tastes!

*Brief Description: Scooby Doo and Shaggy meet up for the first time and the gang becomes official.  What new mysteries will be underfoot?

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (Watch the trailer here)

*Brief Description: Gary the Snail has been kidnapped!! Spongebob and Patrick must travel the seas and encounter danger to save their little snaily friend.

*Brief Description: Pixar is making a Jazz-related movie that deals with soul on several levels.  Let’s hope for the greatest of Coco and Inside Out!

Minions: The Rise of Gru

*Brief Description: At the end of Minions, they are paired with Gru.  How did they get to the point where they can steal the moon and drop little kids’ ice cream?  See how Gru and the Minions rose to such power.

Jungle Book 2

*Release Date: October 9, 2020
*Rating: Expected PG
*Brief Description: A sequel to the live action remake in 2016.  The current plot details are unknown.

Clifford the Big Red Dog

*Release Date: November 13, 2020
*Rating: Expected PG
*Brief Description: The GIANT movie is a remake of the PBS classic of the same name.  It follows the story of a cute little red puppy who grows to enormous size.

Raya and the Last Dragon

*Release Date: November 25, 2020
*Rating: Expected PG
*Brief Description:  The plot details are still unknown.  Raya, in an ancient world, is searching for the last dragon.

The Croods 2

*Release Date: December 23, 2020
*Rating: Expected PG
*Brief Description: The original crew is back, but they are entering the peril of a new world.

Tom and Jerry

*Release Date: December 23, 2020
*Rating: Expected PG
*Brief Description: A new adaption of the classic TV show.  What kinds of nonsense will Tom inevitably get himself into in the millennia.

Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (Watch the trailer here)

*Brief Description: Harley Quinn breaks out on her own and has got some new friends with her now.

*Brief Description: After a raucous animation start, Sonic the Hedgehog will be finally heading to our screens in 2020.  Jim Carrey is back, playing the evil mastermind, Dr. Robotnik, in all his goofy glory!

*Brief Description: A reimagining of the classic Peter Pan character.  Wendy is lost on an island and must fight for herself and her family.

*Brief Description: A remake of the 1993 classic.  Mary Lennox finds herself in a new home and accidentally finds a secret, magical garden.

*Brief Description: The backstory of Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow.

*Brief Description: A criminal mastermind looks to kidnap a fairy for ransom in order to find his missing father.

*Brief Description: The Cold War is among us and now Wonder Woman must face a foe, the likes of which she has never faced before.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (Watch the trailer here)

*Brief Description: A redo from the controversial (but in our opinion, good) female-led Ghostbusters franchise.  Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Ernie Hudson all are returning in what should be a fun reimagining of an old classic.

*Brief Description: The Disney theme park attraction is coming to life with the help of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt.

The One and Only Ivan

*Brief Description: A Gorilla, along with some other animals, share a habitat in a suburban shopping mall.  Based on the novel by K.A. Applegate.

Eternals

*Release Date: November 6, 2020
*Rating: Expected PG-13
*Brief Description: A new race enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).  How will this addition play into the larger universe!

Uncharted

*Release Date: December 18, 2020
*Rating: Expected PG-13
*Brief Description: The plot is generally unknown, but it will follow a similar plot to the video game.  Nathan Drake is an explorer with friends in an intense, action-packed series!

As you can see, there is a lot of movies coming out in 2020 to look forward to. Lots of remakes, but also a few originals to get excited about! What movies are you most excited about?
