Disney+ Nostalgia: 40 years of television to stream now!

With the recent launch of Disney+, there was so much to wade through and explore. With all the amazing content, it’s easy to miss just how much Disney+ nostalgia there is out there. We have put together a quick list of 5 TV shows from each decade of the last 40 years to share the warmth of that Disney+ nostalgia.

Disney+ Nostalgia from the 80’s what to watch on Disney +

Ducktales

Rating: Y7
Age Suggestion:  5 and up
Episode Info: 3 Seasons (about 100 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary: Dive into the world of Scrooge McDuck and his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie!

The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Rating: Y
Age Suggestion:  Any
Episode Info: 4 seasons (about 50 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary:  Join Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit and many other friends in the hundered acre forest.  Learning about each other and friendship. (Our kiddos current favorite is My Friends Tigger and Pooh- a later series)

Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers

Rating: Y7
Age Suggestion:  7 and up
Episode Info: 1 season (65 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary:  Two classic chipmunks team up to fight crime, solve mysteries, and have grand adventures.

The Simpsons

Rating: PG
Age Suggestion:  10 and up (Make sure to watch with your children to guide them along, there’s a lot of adult humor)
Episode Info: 30 seasons (about 650 twenty minute episodes on Disney+)
Quick Summary:  The original adult animated tv show shows heart, mild stupidity, childish rebellion, and little geniuses.  The Simpsons family will provide hours of entertainments. (If you enjoy it all you will be entertained for about 220 hours)

Darkwing Duck

Rating: Y7
Age Suggestion:  7 and up
Episode Info: 2 seasons (about 90 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary: Let’s get DANGEROUS!  But for real, this show added some seriousness (and hilarity) to the 90s block of children’s tv shows.  Also, among many other entries on this list, Jim Cummings voice acting is amazing.

Goof Troop

Rating: Y7
Age Suggestion: 7 and up
Episode Info: 1 season (78 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary: The show from the 90s that made an entire generation fall in love with Goofy and his son Max.  I would say Pete as well, but you can’t trust Pete.  Never trust Pete.

Boy Meets World

Rating: PG
Age Suggestion:  7 and up (topics become heavier the further you go into this show)
Episode Info: 5 Seasons (about 110 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary:  Cory Matthews is just the average boy living in the absolute insane world known as high school.  Join him on this wild ride as he navigates the complexities of relationships, education, and friendship.

Gargoyles

Rating: Y7
Age Suggestion:  7 and up

Quick Summary: A group of 1000 year old gargoyles come back to life in modern day (at the time) New York City. Hilarity and drama follows them.

Doug

Quick Summary:  Join this nine-haired boy as he moves to Bluffington along with his parents and sister Judy. How do you fit in when you’re new and awkward?

The Proud Family

Quick Summary: Penny Proud is starring in this magnificient coming of age tv show alongside some of the greatest characters on the Disney Channel in the 90s (Specifically Sugar Mama).

Kim Possible

Rating: G
Age Suggestion:  5 and up
Episode Info: 4 seasons (about 90 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary: Kim Possible and Ron Possible make the perfect(ish) crime fighting team.  They must figure out how to take on arch nemesis Dr. Drakken and Shego. (their is a new Disney channel movie of this on Disney + as well)

That’s So Raven

Rating: G
Age Suggestion:  7 and up
Episode Info: 4 seasons (100 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary: Raven is a high schooler that has the ability to see small glimpses into the future.  Will she be able to use this information to navigate the difficulties and drama of high school?

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody

Rating: G
Age Suggestion:  7 and up
Episode Info: 3 seasons (about 90 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary:  Identical twins, Zack and Cody are living in the upper suite of a nice hotel.  Join them as they cause utter chaos for the concierge and many of the hotel patrons.

Phineas and Ferb

Rating: G
Age Suggestion:  4 and up
Episode Info: 4 seasons (about 220 twenty minute episodes)
Quick Summary:  Phineas and Ferb, two literal geniuses, try to go on as many adventures as they can during their limited summer break.

Gravity Falls

Quick Summary:  Two kids are shipped of to spend some time with their uncle in the mysterious city of Gravity Falls and must learn to adapt.

Girls Meets World

Quick Summary:  Remember earlier when I talked about Cory Matthews?  Meet his daughter, Riley who must navigate similar issues as her father in a very different culture.

The Lion Guard

Quick Summary: The follow up from the classic 1994 Disney movie Lion King, we get introduced to Simba’s son Kion who must determine what his destiny holds.
