Discussion Questions:
1- What was your favorite scene in the movie? (The Elf’s favorite was the scene where they explain the true secret to parenting!)
2- What’s your favorite game to play? Do you like familiar games the best (where you know all the levels- etc…)? Or do you prefer new games that challenge you?
3- Vanellope is told in the first movie that she’s a big mistake. But she lets Ralph and others befriend her. Their encouragement helps her embrace who she is. Wreck It Ralph 2 Review:
–Parents should know before they go that there are several intense scenes and scary images. This movie is really aimed at the 10+ and teen crowd. But the content is clean and there are great messages about friendship, internet safety and self acceptance.
-One of the themes of the first movie was self acceptance. They emphasized surrounding yourself with encouraging friends and positive voices. That continued in this movie. In the first movie, Vanellope needed to know that she was not just a mistake and in this movie, Ralph needed to know that he could be a good guy and friend all by himself. I love that message! It’s so easy to not stop and think about who the loudest voices in our lives are- but that is an important thing to do. And to evaluate what the loudest voices in our kids lives are!
-There were SO many wonderful jokes, references, and easter eggs. From the tweetings birds, the R2-D2 tie, down to Stan Lee’s cameo- they were amazing. And you would have to see it a couple of times at least to catch even 80% of them!!
-There are some great messages in this movie about the internet!!! It’s not all bad- in fact, it can be great!! It can help you keep in touch with friends, it can help you find things that you are looking for, and you can play games with friends through it! The internet can also be a scary place where awful things can be said by people you’ve never met, you can be over whelmed with viruses and negativity, there is bad stuff that happens on the internet. Use with appreciation and caution was the overall message I got.
-The Disney scenes, especially the princess ones, blew me away! Loved them! And also- I want allllll of that princess lounge-ware to be real please!!!
-The music, animation and voice acting were all exceptional! Loved hearing Gal Gadot and Taraji Henson join the cast.
