Quick The Babysitters Club Season 2 Summary
After a fun summer at camp, the Babysitters Club is back to school and back to real life. With the addition of two new members, Jessi and Mallory, the club and the girls are going through some growing pains. Between Kristy moving into her new stepdad’s house, Claudia adjusting to a house without Mimi, Mary Anne and Dawn learning how to be sisters, and Stacey learning how to manage her health- the girls are having a hard time growing up. But through the power of supportive friends and family, the Babysitter Club girls are taking it one step at a time.
The Babysitters Club Season 2 Review

–Is The Babysitters Club Season 2 Appropriate–
We are suggesting middle school aged preteens and above due to the heavy storylines. It is less of a sitcom and more of a middle school dramedy, so it might be a good idea to watch with kids under 13. This season deals with more tragedy, between Mimi passing away, Stacey’s parents splitting up, and Kristy’s storylines with her dad leaving the family, and her mom’s struggles with fertility. While all of it is shown and spoken about with tact, and they keep it age appropriate, if you or your child have struggled with any of these topics, it might be worth it to watch together. You may not agree with how they approach each topic but they do it in a very relatable way that makes for some great conversation starters.
-Characters & Acting-
While all of the girls this season did a fantastic job portraying these beloved characters, the stand out is Momona Tamada as Claudia Kishi. She plays Claudia with a lot of depth and character, especially in Episode 7: Claudia and the Sad Goodbye. Each of the girls (with the odd exception of Mallory) gets their own episode with fantastic character development. I hope that they get another season to continue the great character work they’ve already started.
-Script & Story-
The series has followed the books closely with slight adaptions to make the more dated aspects work better in modern day, and it has made changes to the stories from the books to make the lessons more applicable to preteens today. Despite making these changes, the story still holds up, and it retains most of what made the series so lovable in the first place. The experiences we see the girls go through are mostly accurate in portraying what growing up in the 21st century looks like. But also with lessons that transcend through the ages, like learning to be a good friend, caring for others and yourself, and dealing with your emotions in a healthy way.

Though the show can be a little heavy handed sometimes with its messaging, it fills a hole that other shows about teenagers are missing. If you compare this show to Euphoria, another show targeted at teens and young adults, you can see a stark contrast. While Euphoria uses adult actors, and talks about topics like drug use, mental health, and other heavy topics, The Babysitters Club is the type of show that younger teens are going to be interested in watching. With young actors that are around the same age as the characters they play, and topics that are relatable to younger viewers, like friendships, family, and growing up- it’s going to be a popular series.
