The Munsters Summary
In this prequel to the classic sitcom, we follow Lily and her father, Grandpa, as they live in a large classic-style castle. Lily is trying to find true love with absolutely no success while Lester is just trying to make money. In another plot, a doctor is attempting to resurrect the greatest piano player in history, but makes a pretty humorous mistake. The stories collide as we slowly put the pieces in place for the Munsters origin story.

–Why Watch The Munsters-
This movie is a bit niche. It’s not going to be automatically loved by the people who love the series. On the other hand, it may not appeal to people who just want a regular comedy. With that said, if you like a unique cinematography style and slightly edgy comedies. There is some charm in the film, especially as it nears the end of the film
The overall plot was of two halves to me. I felt pretty put off by the first half of the film. Once you got into the dynamic of Herman, Lily, and Grandpa, I think the overall feel of the movie became more enjoyable. It was fun seeing the plot line up so well with how the TV series starts off.
Rob Zombie directed this movie and his visual style is very prevalent. Although not perfect, the atmosphere of the movie does allow for a very fun and vibrant film that will give you a few laughs. It isn’t appropriate for everyone in the family, but we will discuss that more in the “Is the Munsters Appropriate?” section below.
-Is The Munsters Appropriate?-
There are definitely a few things to be prepared for before letting your young ones watch The Munsters 2022 movie. There are quite a few uses of mild language, but also there is one scene were some serious language (The S word and ‘ass’) is used (but censored). This is also in a sea of childish humor throughout the film (i.e. uranus, ha ha….blah).
As can be expected, there are a lot of monsters who may be scary to younger viewers. Although most of them are viewed through a comedic lense, these can still linger in the minds of kids who are a bit more sensitive to creepiness and the macabre.
