Short Summary of The Marvels Movie
Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau find themselves mysteriously connected. Kamala Khan hasn’t met any other super heroes, and she’s over the moon excited to finally connect with Captain Marvel and Monica. But having powers and being super might not be all it’s cracked up to be, especially when you add family dynamics to the mix! If they’re going to win this battle, they’ll have to learn to use their combined powers together.
Is The Marvels a Good Movie?! 5 Reasons it’s GREAT!
*SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT*
1) An Accidental, but Amazing Team Up
The Marvels are an amazing team. Captain Marvel, Miss Marvel, and Monica Rambeau’s light powers intertwine which forces them to team up. It’s a fantastic, girl power, match up that I hope they continue. They make a great team, they have a great back and forth energy, and their names and powers are all similarly related.
2) It Opens Up a New Avengers Team
At the very end of the movie we start to see the young avengers assemble. And it’s interesting that they’re all female so far. We can safely assume that the team will consist of Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Kamala Kahn, and probably Morgan Stark. Whether or not the older Avengers will play much of a role in this new phase has yet to be seen.
PLUS, we also get to see the overlap of the X-Men for the very first time. Because Disney now owns the rights to the Marvel hero comics and X-Men. So there’s build up for a whole new slew of X-Men movies and re-makes.
3) There’s a Great Musical Number That Works!
There are not a lot of musical numbers in Marvel movies. This one adds some levity but it’s not just a comedic centerpiece. It’s a really pretty musical number that works. I actually wished that they took it a little farther and that it lasted longer.
4) The Flerkens Play a Bigger Role
An octopus-like alien cat?! What’s not to like?! The Flerkens have become a fan favorite, and Goose the Flerken gets a little more screen time in this movie. And using the Flerken babies to safely get everyone back on solid ground was one of the funniest bits of the movie. It was practical, hilarious, and worked really well into the plot of the movie.
5) It’s the Best Marvel Movie Since Endgame
In our opinion, it’s the best and most engaging Marvel movie since Endgame. And you don’t have to have seen any of the previous movies or shows to keep up. The movie shows more consequences of how being a hero impacts not only those around you, but the worlds and peoples that are impacted as well. It’s a really well done movie.
