Our Commentary on The Rings of Power Episode 7: The Eye

The Harfoots Come Together:

This storyline was just heartwarming and grand. I love that the Harfoot’s all come together even after their encampment is burned. They acknowledge that they were wrong for punishing Nori and Poppy for helping the Stranger. I especially appreciated when Marigold said she supported the girls and was going to go with them on their quest. Still very curious who is searching for the Stranger.

The Southlands Burn:

Personally, I had forgotten that the Southlands were what we knew as Mordor before last weeks episode. And I did not expect that to happen so quickly. There is also a little bit of a different timeline revealed for Galadriel who it is revealed believes her husband is dead. The showrunners have said that they have left it ambiguous for a reason. But we see him in the original trilogy and The most recent movies– so it will be interesting to see when/if they reintroduce him anytime soon. Galadriel and Halbrand are off to seek the elves.

New Territories:

The Southlanders and few from Numenor who remain are headed for a new territory. And the queen regent has been injured and vows to return with even more troops. Elendil believes that his son is dead, when and how will Isildur return? Will he follow the Southlanders and help establish this new territory as part of a future family kingdom? And finally we find out that Theo is not the only one of his trio to survive. He, Bronwyn, and Arondir are finally all together.

I’m really curious where the finale is going to lead and how much of a cliffhanger it will be. And I will miss these weekly episodes. I was much more impressed with the first season than I hoped I would be. A fantastic edition to the Lord of the Rings fantasy realm.
