To Know Before You Go

Movie: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Rating: PG-13

Age Suggestion: A mature 10 and up- this film is much darker and more intense than the first Fantastic Beasts

Running Time: 2 hours 15 minutes

Release Date: November 16th, 2018

Stars: 4 out of 5 stars

Themes: Right Vs. Wrong, Fear, Trust, Family Heritage, Power, The Other

Trigger Warnings: Parents should be aware that this is a darker and more intense movie; there is a lot of discussion about parent death, being orphaned, sibling death, and bullying. As well as scary and intense images.

Quick Summary: I usually don’t expect much from the second movie but this is an amazing second installment. Newt is still dealing with the consequences of what happened in New York as the movie opens. Follow him and the whole crew as they discover new creatures and continue the fight against Grindelwald. With twists and turns enough to shock even the most avid fans!

The Crimes of Grindelwald Fantastic Beasts Review

-We were thoroughly impressed with the movie! From the beautiful cinematography to the spot on acting and then the twists and turns!!! We can’t wait to see it again to get our fan theories straight.

– They did an absolutely wonderful job of further integrating this series into the larger universe of the Harry Potter World!

-In a world where there is a lot of moral relativism, this is a timely reminder that there are right and wrong paths and decisions. There is good and evil even though it is not always clear exactly which is which.

-Rowling is an amazing storyteller. This is a very rich and well balanced story. We saw a lot of different references- particularly some Biblical references as well as nods to some old great English stories like King Arthur. Might does not make right! There is a LOT packed into this movie and we thought it was a very well woven story.

-The only thing we thought was missing from the movie was animal time. We wish that the animals and their descriptions had gotten a little bit more screen time.

We loved the movie and we can’t wait to see it again!!

What’s your favorite movie in the Harry Potter universe so far?
