Quick Summary of the New Grinch Movie:

The Grinch Review, new grinch movie, parent review of the grinch, grinch 2018, the grinch discussion questions

The grumpy Grinch learns about what the real meaning of Christmas is with the help of a little Who from Whoville. This movie is not only safe for the whole family but this whimsical adaption feels very Seussical. The movie feels pointed towards younger children but I was very engaged and would recommend it to adults as well. I loved the style of animation! I loved the choices for the voice actors! I hope that this becomes a holiday classic!

The Grinch Review
*NO SPOILERS*

Is it appropriate for a younger audience?: Yes! In this momma’s opinion the original animated cartoon is still slightly more kid friendly. However, I would absolutely feel comfortable showing the new grinch movie to a pre-schooler! Plus, this version really captures the heart of the original story so well and generally leaves me with more warm, holiday, fuzzies than the live action movie does. This will be a repeat in our house every holiday season.

-I really thought the voice casting was amazingly on point! I’ve heard people complain that the Grinch is too good and goofy, but I think that it was absolutely on point.

-While this was obviously directed towards children, I feel like it can be a holiday classic that adults and kids can love and watch together! I got as much out of it as an adult as the kids did.

-This adaption seemed to have a lot more nods to the original book and the original cartoon than the live action one. From the color scheme to the whimsical world of Whoville. There were only a very few omissions and they did not bother me much at all. The only thing I really missed was a classical version of the Grinch song.

-Please sign me up to get some of the Grinch’s cleaning gadgets… amazing.

-I teared up at the end even though I knew what was coming!!! Masterfully done!!!!
