The Dragon Prince Review:

Characters & Acting:

-The voice acting within Dragon Prince is absolutely spot on. Every character can be easily identified through voice alone and brings so much dimension and depth to each player in this show.
-The actual character development with this show is totally off the charts. Almost every character is given an interesting story and the interweaving styles of this is something purely magical.

Going to the movies?! Who not have some dinner while you’re there?! Check out Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Script & Story:

-As alluded to in the point above, the interweaving storylines within this TV show is done wonderfully. It is great because throughout the show, the show just continues to grow in intensity (As of the end of season 3). The overall plot is very straightforward and easy for younger viewers to keep up with while being in depth enough to keep the attention of adults.

-The scripting of this show is also very good. Everyone talks as you feel they should with no clunkiness or unnecessary stumblings.

Film Quality:

-The styling of Dragon Prince is spectacular. It is so much more lively than your typical 2D cartoon animation. They use texture and depth to create beautiful scenes, characters, and settings.

**Spoilers Beyond This Point**

Discussion Questions for Season 1:

  1. One of the great things about The Dragon Prince is the amount of interesting characters. Who is your favorite character? What do you enjoy about that person/animal?
  2. Ezran realizes that the giant spider is nothing but an illusion. Has there ever been a time when you thought something was scary, but then realized the thing wasn’t as scary as you originally saw?
  3. When Viren tells his adult children to kill innocent people, we were taken aback. Has anyone every asked you to do something you knew was wrong? How did you handle the situation? (If not well, “How should you have handled that situation”)

Discussion Questions for Season 2:

  1. Viren is attracted to the mystery of the elf in the mirror. What would you do if you found a portal to a new world? Would you be hesitant or try to dive right into it?
  2. Callum struggles to tell Ezran about their father. Have you ever had to deliver bad news to a loved one? Are there lessons you could take from how it happened with Ezran? (Note to them the importance of who delivers bad news, even if it is hard)
  3. Ezran reveals that he has the ability to talk with animals. What would you do with this ability? What animals would you be the most excited to talk to?

Discussion Questions for Season 3

  1. Ezran must take on the mantle of king after his return home. Have you ever had to do something you thought was far too overwhelming to handle? How did you handle it? (Encourage kids to think about seeking help and good counsel during these times)
  2. Claudia ultimately turns from her friends for the darkness of her father. Have you ever seen a friend start hanging out with the wrong people because they thought it was the right thing to do? How could you help your friend in this situation.
  3. Rayla is shunned by her hometown because they thought she was a traitor. Tell a time when you were blamed for something you didn’t do. How did you handle that situation? Were you able to prove you didn’t do anything wrong. (Try to get to the point that it is better to go about it calmly rather than screaming)
