Quick Scaredy Cats Show Summary

Willa Ward receives a present left by her deceased mother on her 12th birthday. A normal sleepover turns into a harrowing adventure when Willa learns that her new present is more than what it seems. This leads Willa and her friends to face off against evil witches while trying to maintain the normal façade of a pre-teen girl.

And while it’s certainly not made for parents, we think that adults will enjoy the show too. It’s a fun halloween family-friendly watch. With that being said, some of the scares are a little too intense for most pre-k through 1st graders that we know. Check out the ‘is the Scaredy Cats Show Appropriate’ section below for more info.

Why Watch the Scaredy Cats Show-

Scaredy Cats provides a fun, relatively innocent halloween show that is appropriate for most people in the family (See the Is Scaredy Cats Appropriate section below for more information on that). Willa’s story is interesting and the show is written in a way that you want to see her succeed and overcome the obvious evil that she faces. This makes it simple for younger viewers to follow but also contains enough heart to keep older kids and adults engaged. Older viewers may get a Hocus Pocus feel from Scaredy Cats, although this show is quite a bit cheesier. Overall, Scaredy Cats provides a straight forward fun viewing that is great for families.

-Is Scaredy Cats appropriate?-

The major plot behind Scaredy Cats involves Willa Ward being hunted down by to evil witches who are trying to steal her necklace. Although they are portrayed as cheesy and somewhat comical, very young viewers may still find them scary as well as some of their spells. A major subplot revolves around the fact that Willa’s mother passed away when she was a baby. This could be a difficult topic for kids who have experienced similar events. By the end of the show, she is reunited with her mother (who everyone thought was dead), which may bring up difficult feelings for young kids who have a parent who has passed.

-Plot/Characters-

Willa Ward (Played by Sophia Reid-Gantzert) is an innocent 12 year old girl who, along with her friends, are thrust into the world of magic. This is originally experienced by them turning into cats, but they develop more magical abilities throughout the show. Although some of them are a bit one dimensional, all the characters are portrayed as intense beings with strong, charismatic mannerisms. The overarching plot of fighting off evil witches is straight forward, but sends the children through many unexpected trials that keep it interesting throughout the show.
