Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie Snapshot
Continuing the story in the popular series, the members of the PAW Patrol gain superpowers from a meteor. A new villain is trying to gain the powers for herself, and Mayor Humdinger is aiding her. Bottom Line: fun, fairly fast paced, with a great voice cast. Any kid who is a PAW Patrol fan will probably want to see this multiple times. Enough to keep adults happy as well.
Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie Summary and Review
First, in a nod to the familiar Pixar practice, we open with a short: a new Dora the Explorer interactive film (Dora and the Fantastical Creatures). We quickly move to the PAW Patrol being called to aid in putting out a fire – and they do so from their aircraft carrier type floating headquarters.
The fire was caused by a new villain – Victoria “Vee” Vance, who is trying to bring a meteor to earth. Her plot goes haywire, the meteor crashed in Adventure City, and destroys PAW Patrol HQ. They move to their floating HQ and discover crystals in the meteor that give them super-powers. We are also introduced to the new Junior Patrollers, three Pomeranian pups who want to grow up to be in PAW Patrol.

Vance is put in prison – in the same cell as Mayor Humdinger. He orchestrates an escape, and Vance seeks to gain the powers of the crystals for herself.
The emotional heart (and principal lesson) is the smallest team member, Skye. Her size is leading her to feel inferior, We get her backstory – she was the runt of the litter. She was the last to get food and was never picked for adoption by a family. She leaves her barn and is rescued and cared for by Ryder. Her inferiority leads to a bad decision, but the other team members still trust her and she makes up for her mistake. As Ryder reminds her, “No pup is too small.”
Voice talents include Taraji P. Henson, Kim Kardashian, Chris Rock, James Marsden, Kristen Bell, and Mckenna Grace (most of these are in cameos). The music includes songs by Mckenna Grace, Bryson Tiller, and Christina Aguilera.
Is Paw Patrol: The Might Movie Appropriate for All Ages?
Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie is actually the first Paw Patrol movie to be rated PG instead of G. With that said, there isn’t a severe jump in intensity, but there are a few scenes that may be scary or triggering for kids in certain situations.
The main one is just the general comic intensity. There are a few explosions and a fire. There is also a few seemingly life or death situations. One in particular which implies that one of the main pups may have died. They don’t and it is resolved very quickly, but for younger viewers, that may be hard to process.

A lot of the plot revolves around Skye’s emotions around not feeling she is big or good enough. There are a few scenes of her being alone and passed up by potential owners. Near the end of the film, there is also a scene in which a few kids cry over their situations.
Overall, most of these topics and scenes are going to be totally fine for the general public. If you have a kid with particular trauma or triggers, it may be good to prepare them for these specific scenes.
