-Is Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Appropriate?-

This movie is pretty in line with the action of the TV show. If you aren’t familiar with the series, you can expect some moderate cartoon violence. There is a lot of weapon fighting as well as an implied stabbing There is some detail shown (a bleeding cut on an arm) but it isn’t extremely graphic. There are also some instances of mild swearing from the turtles, but nothing too egregious. The main two are an instance of “Bad Ass” and “Oh God”. Overall, this movie does have some things to keep in mind, but for fans of the TMNT franchise, it’s nothing too out of the ordinary.

Why Watch Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles provides a very fun watch that continues the story of the show of the same name. It contains a lot of the same characters that we’ve come to know and love, but also provides different characteristics compared to other movies of the same franchise. This is seen a lot in Raphael as he is the de facto leader at the beginning of the film and doesn’t have severe anger issues seen usually. This may not be appealing to some, but I found it quite refreshing.

The overall plot is somewhat common for this franchise as an alien species has come to take over the world. With that said, they add a really interesting spin on it as we start with the TMNT of the future and show the potential future in which they lose. They send Casey Jones to the past to warn the TMNT that we know about the impending doom. It’s a really fun movie with lots of laughs, some intense action, and some genuinely emotional moments.
